How to Describe a Suspect (Tips)

Location Information:

1. note the exact location of the crime
2. Note the time as precisely as possible
3. Note if the subject (person) is carrying a weapon and if so, what type (knife, gun etc.)
4. If the subject (person) leaves the scene, note the direction he or she is going
5. If the subject (person) is in a vehicle note the make, model, color, condition, and  license plate

General Description Information:

1.  Sex and Race
2.  Age
3.  Height and weight
4.  Build - fat, husky, slim, muscular, etc.

Facial Information:

1.  Hair - color, texture, hairline, and style
2.  Eyes- color, shape (round, slanted), clear or bloodshot, heavy            eyelashes or brows
3.  Nose - overall shape (long, wide, flat) and nostrils (wide, narrow, flared)
4.  Ears-Protruding or flat against the head
5.  Mouth - are lips thin, medium or full, do corners turn up, down or level
6.  Complexion - pockmarks, acne, razor rash, bumps, wrinkles
7. Facial hair clean shaven, unshaven, beard mustache, goatee, sideburns
8. Tatoos- shaped and style and on what part of the body

SUBJECT CLOTHING

Is the general apprearance neat or sloppy? Clean or Dirty?
1.  Coat-color and style (suite coat, jacket, top coat, "hoodie"
2.  Shirt & pants or shorts-color, design, sleeves, collar, cuffs
3.  Shoes- color style, brand name (for athletic shoes), condition
4.  Accessories-scarf, gloves, hat (color style, position of bill)
5  Jewelry-rings, watches, necklaces, bracelets.
